GARDENING ZONES

I wanted to get a gardening zone to you. I don't have my scanner up yet. You can go to http://www.thegardenhelper.com/hardiness.htm This will give you, your planting time for your region. I printed the information, for future reference.
I just wanted to say that using newspaper for weed blocking is cheap and does a great job around shrubs. Just leave room around the trunk/roots for watering. You should never put any type of mulch to close to any plants. This may cause rotting or decay. You have to remember that weed block topped with mulch, holds in moisture.
Our garden centers are so informative and the plants have great directions for planting and care. I just purchased Dahlias and Peony bulbs to plant. According to the package I am a little late for my zone. What is nice for the Dahlias, they bloom summer to fall and reach 36" high. I will plant on the fence line hoping for a color full show. ABOUT US

Chris and I became friends over 20 years ago when we were neighbors in the Philippines. We were living there with our families because of our husbands' jobs with Westinghouse. In fact, we were next door neighbors on the compound that we lived in. After returning Stateside, we were lucky enough to have Westinghouse assign our husbands to the same work site. Our husbands are good friends, also. We enjoy each other and feel fortunate to be blessed with such good, loving friends in our lives.

We cannot take credit for the helpful hints, tips or recipes that we put in. These are an accumulation of ones that we have collected over the years and still collect. We won't mind if someone needs a hint or recipe that we haven't posted yet and they want us to try to find it for them. In fact, we would like the challenge!

Chris and I have always loved to collect cookbooks, recipes and hints. You would not believe the number of books and newspaper and magazine clippings that we have. Plus, Dennis, Chris's husband, loves to cook and has some to add to the mix. I know there are those of you out there that have the same sort of collection. I was getting ready to get rid of some unneeded things I have around here and get ready for my huge annual Thanksgiving event. I thought I would share this with "the world" and Chris feels the same way. (Her and I are so much alike, it's scarey sometimes. To our husbands, that is!) Plus both of us are Taurus! Chris might even have some decorating tips for you because she is great at that. That is something that just doesn't come to me and I turn to her.
